My Rochester is Whistling!
I thought I had fixed a LOUD whistle (Vacuum leak) coming from my rebuilt Rochester in my '46 Merc (Flathead 8). It went away when I replaced and filled the Air Cleaner's Oil bath - for about a week, but now it's back.
It's a vacuum leak of some sort but I couldn't find it with a tube and trying to cover different areas, plus, I sprayed starter fluid around it but no idle changes....
Anyone heard this before or have any ideas on how better to pinpoint the leak? Thx!

I've had the Whistle numerous times, it has always been a bad seal at the carb base gasket to the intake. It will run ok, just whistle. If it was any worse it would behave like a vacuum leak. It was worst on one carb I had with a warped base, I'd just put up with it. Change base gaskets and check that the gasket covers everything fully, that is my bet.
