OK, so now the timing is right how much torque do I have?

I have a 1964 F 100 in near stock form (Pertronix and a large air cleaner), These motors were worth about 160 HP out of the factory. How much torque does a 292 have? Because these things scoot good for a 160 hp motor.

From the 1963 manual:

medium duty: 270 @b 1800
heavy duty 274 @ 2000.

I don't think anything changed much for '64.

well, I at least got the 270 part right. I'm rather impressed with myself that I got that much.

matt2491 is new and has a neutral reputation at this point.
I have a 1964 F100 with the stock 292 as well, and my original dealer's 1964 truck brochure specs the horsepower and torque as follows:

160 HP @ 4000 RPM
270 LBS-FT @ 18-2000 RPM

I too installed a Pertronix ignition system along with a nice set of headers through a true dual exhaust system, and it really did help to wake the old motor up. It's not a race engine by any means or anything like that, but it can surely move the truck along and accelerate at a decent clip.
