Vandalized Ignition '89 E350 - Help?!

Hi!
My 1989 E350 7.3l diesel was vandalized almost a week ago. Someone tried to literally rip the entire steering column out. The rod that goes from the ignition lock to the ignition switch is bend and has about an inch of play in it. I got the ignition to the point now, where the glowplugs kick in, but the rod won't push the spring down. I don't want to take the entire steering wheel column apart just to replace the rod. I would like to just simply run the necessary wires to a push-down button. I figured out, which wires on the ignition switch will start my truck:
o - - - -
o
o - o - -
(the o's are the wires I'm talking about), but I don't have a clue, which are positive, negative or ground. Can anyone here help me out with this problem?
Thank you!
COVA
