Emissions Violation Citation

Texas DPS unleashed the dreaded visual inspection of the emissions system on light duty trucks. Tuesday along US 281 near Longview they were doing road side inspections. If no CAT or DPF was found the citation was issued for the violation and the owner was subject to a $1500 fine. The only relief is presenting proof of compliance to the court and the ticket is dismissed but you must pay court costs. OUCH!!!! We got flooded with calls ordering CATS the last two days they must have hit a gold mine over there.

Damn northern Texans. HE HE. I'm just screwing around. But if they're setting up emissions checks they can kiss my ***. I'm down on the deep southern end of Hwy 281, and have made sure that I'm not getting stopped on the highway for blowing smoke. Currently Texas law states that you have to blow smoke for 10 seconds or the smoke has to stay for 10 seconds without dissipating. I made sure of this while doing a ride-a-long with a sheriff dept friend of mine. I doubt DPS will be doing checks down here, but if they do I think I have enough friends down here that can get me out of trouble. I run a very high bar tab every night, and it isn't all wasted on me.

Just hang on to the DPF and go to courts with it on the truck??? is that all that is needed......that sounds simple enough.

Blowing smoke has nothing to do with it If you are pulled over for a random visual inspection . The law says you do have to have the emmission controls on the vehicle. It is nice to be able to pay a LEO off however..most of us do not have that luxury. Ohio does have a emmission check and they do look to see if all that stuff is there so I think I will leave it on.
