08 F250 PSD Auto tranny big clunk from 2nd to 3rd

I have had twice now the same thing happen, in town no load this big clunk as it is going thru the gears. I get a fault code on the message center, I run thru the stuff and it clears. Happened maybe a week ago and then again this morning.

Any ideas?

I just shows a picture of a wrench, I referred to the owners manual which indicated a fault with the trans. Along with what I heard and felt...

I took the truck in this morning, on the way to work it happened for the 3rd time, service eng light and the fault for the transmission came on, so straight to the dealer.

Still waiting on a call as to the issue.

well just a update, got the truck back, reset the svc eng lite and updated the PCM is what they did. could not find anything wrong other than the fault codes. Has happened again this morning, 63 deg. outside temp, called ford this am and checked with them about any TSB's or anything, taking it back in tomorrow, told them to physically check all the sensors.

Any other ideas?

Well posting this again in case someone has the same issue they will know what to tell the svc techs.
Took it back again, same issue, thru the following codes: P215B Output speed correlation, P0720 OSS Sensor fault, P0722 OSS sensor no signal in memory. They had to due pin tests for those codes all was ok. They called the hotline and they could not help as they had not heard of this either.
Replace TCM part # 8C3Z-7H103-B and module 7C3Z-7Z369-C Module.

Seems fine, we shall see as we are headed camping this weekend in the mountains.
This is a 08F250 PSD 4x4 with the Auto trans. 1900 miles on it now.

When was your truck built? As far as the new flash it appears that it is a issue with those that were built befor Jan 08.

Nope, others have indicated the TCM is having issues with the update. Some have lost the code completely resulting in the truck not moving at all. I would take it in and get it cleared and re-flashed with the old code.

then some of the issues I list above may be happening to you. All the stuff I posted happened before the lastest PCM update. Ultimately replacing the TCM took care of the code.

So this may be a starting point for your tech. Mine would run fine, then throw the code and then run fine again. Sometimes had the trans shift hard sometimes not.

so do you think when the next update comes out that'll fix things? i don't have the wrench symbol, i got the oil pump looking one. so far no problems, runs just like it did, i might stop by and let them see what code its showing to make sure its nothing bad

That would be a real concern to me. I did not have the oil pump symbol. When they get the flash corrected it should be very good for you, increase your mpgs and change the message display so you know when you are going into regen.
