The new O/T

I guess I'll go first

So, I switched from the graveyard shift back to day shift this week. Day shift sucks. I hate mornings.

How y'all doing?

Thanks. It's not so bad in the winter when it's cool, but it's still in the mid 90's every day and humid as hell.....and I really don't like getting up at 5 a.m.

Anyway....I'm done whining. Work sucks, that's why it's called work.

Speaking of work. What do y'all like for workboots?

I've run the gambit from el'cheapo's to the high end Wolverine and Red Wings. The last two pairs I've bought are from a little Chicago company called Florsheim. They are are stiff as anything to break in, but once done they are the most durable and comfortable boots I've owned. Plus they come in gigantor sizes so my tiny little 13EEE feet are easy to size.

I used to wear Smith's, but I can no longer find them anywhere. They were comfortable right out of the box and wore like iron. I'm using Herman Survivors now. They are comfortable but I go through 2-3 pairs per year!!!

That's the problem I always had. My working surface is either concrete or steel deck plating. I was lucky if I could get 6 months out of a pair of boots. My first pair of Florsheims lasted 18 months. I just put on the second pair today. And they're less than $100.

Never heard of Ariat. I'll have to look them up.

The guys in my family will wear nothing but Redwing. My dad has little feet also Scott, it is harder than hell to find boots that fit him and are comfortable right out of the box.

Hey Kris,
I saw a F450 flatbed today with a single stack up the middle. I've got to say, it looked pretty good.

Do'in fine here. I were hi-test shoes at work and they suk big time. Have to wear a shoe with a metatarsal guard either on it or in it. Would rather wear my red-wings any day.

I've seen metatarsul support insoles that are pretty inexpensive. Could you wear something like that or are you talking about podiatric armor?

I get boots every year from my work for safety awards. I go with the Bates black police boots, very nice on the feet. Most of the time i wear my sneeks though...
