Dot 4 brake fluid

Today I noticed that our new MKC requires dot 4 brake fluid.

New one on me. So how about anyone else? What is the difference between the dot 3 vs dot 4?

^^That thread explains the difference between DOT 3 and DOT 5, not DOT 3 and DOT 4.

DOT 4 basically has a higher boiling point than DOT 3 and is therefore more "high performance." It absorbs moisture more easily than DOT 3 though.

DOT 5 is totally different and should definitely not be used on any modern car with ABS. It cannot be mixed with any other type of brake fluid.

Thanks. Makes sense because the MKC is rated for well over 100 mph. Speedo says 160. Don't know if it will do that but she has some pep. Redline is like 6500 rpms.

What is the speed readout on the Edge? Is it 160 as well?

My MKC is the new 2.3 EB. I think that is going in the mustang? Or is that the 2.7 EB?

Just checked, it is 140.

Not sure on the Mustang motor-found it interesting that the 2.0 EB has 6 bolt mains!
