Question Is 1956 F100 longbed worth more than shortbed?

Like I said in another post--I found a 56 f100 longbed. It is original and rusty. The owner has told me over and over that it is ''the truck to restore''.
Longbed f100s are rare, and this is the truck to restore.
I am not so sure. Most guys tell me they are ugly. I like them--but I like ALL 56 ford trucks. Should I bite the bullet and buy this? I would rather spend the money on a 56panel or a bigwindow. What say you???
Thanks......Bill and all his 56s!!!

For the money I think a panel or a big window would be a better investment. I've yet to notice anyone play the LWB being worth more card. Might be rarer, but I don't think it's nearly as desirable as a big window or a panel.

I have to agree. The long beds are rare...but how often do you hear of someone wanting to cut one down and make a short bed? I would say a pretty good majority of those who have them.

The panel and BBW are the ones I think you should concentrate on.

Or you could send me a crate or two of spare parts...and I can work on mine.

"Is 1956 F100 longbed worth more than shortbed?" Not to anyone I know.

So are you going to buy a rusty, relatively-undesirable truck you're not crazy about because the seller is telling you to, or are you going to step up and buy what you really want?

Come on, man. It's a no-brainer.

Just remember something is worth only what someone else is willing to pay for it. If you like it and want it, its your money (and TIME).

Personally I don't care for the long beds and think a panel or big window is much cooler and probably holds its value better in the long run. Get what you want, life is short.

Honestly I know that the long bed versions are typically less desirable to most, and therefore they aren't worth as much as the half tons. However it seems recently that the bigger trucks are becoming more popular. I personally prefer the long bed, but then I want a work truck.

I like to buy cheap ole 56 ford pickups and now trying to stay under F350s...I just have too much big truck parts, and am concentrating on these 3 f100s.
I cannot help myself if thee truck is 20 miles away and the right price!! Better I give it some life back, than to let it rot in a field. Also, this guy has extra oem parts to go with it. Personally,I build nice drivers and use my trucks. I want no more show-vehicles,but am conflicted with this truck because the guy seems to be knowledgable on the subject.
I also found 2 1953 trucks close to home and both for 1000 bucks and 1 is drivable. Hate to spend the money on the 56f100 longbed when these 53s run--at least 1 of them !!
THANKS.....Bill
