I can't help you with a supplier, but I always just get some decent synthetic material such as "hypalon" and make a new diaphragm and always have had success. There used to be a company that had a large ad (about fuel pump kits for all cars back to early days) in the Hemming's Motor News but I haven't got a copy in a few years. Maybe buy a copy of this mag and check the ads.

Remember when installing a store bought or homemade diaphragm to pull on it by levering the pump arm when assembling the pump, then tighten the screws. The purpose is to insure the material has enough flex at all points of travel when pumping.
I'm afraid I didn't explain that so well, it's tough to describe. I hope you get my meaning. The diaphragm shouldn't tighten up before it reaches the limits of travel.

I bought a this M2278 pump for a 223 6 cylinder from Parts America. The only difference between it and the 226 Flathead is the actuator arm and it doesn't have the glass filter. I took it apart and switched the parts with my old one and have been using it with no problems for the last 6 years.

While we find your parts, please enter your ZIP Code at PartsAmerica.com

I know this is an old thread. Was hoping to find out if you put the M2278 fuel pump on a 226 flathead 6 cylinder and if so what year engine? Thanks.
