Backup camera question

I don't want to sound like an idiot but just bought a 150 - 08 lariat and it had a back up camera in it , didn't care anything about it but it is a pretty good feature for the wife when she's backing up. Problem is I read though the manual and it said it should sound off though the radio when in reverse, but it does'nt, so I'm looking for the switch and can't find it , can anyone steer me in the right direction ? Thanks.

Are you sure you aren’t confusing the back up camera with the parking aid sensors? Which would produce a beeping noise as you got close to something.

Screwy , I assumed from reading the manual that there was an alert through the radio when you were within 6' of an object it started sounding and changed the closer you got . It showed a on-off button in the vehicle where you could turn it off or on. Taking it in this next week for a tire problem so may have to get straighten out then , but thanks anyway.

There is/should be on-off button on the same panel where the lighter is. It has a P on it, push it to override if for example you have the tailgate down.

Right, but I don’t believe that the parking assist system is offered in conjunction with the camera. If you’ve got one why do you need the other mind set, I’d argue it’s there if your not watching the camera, but anyways look at your rear bumper, if it doesn’t have 4 little black sensors, you don’t have it.
