3.0L Internal Engine Help!

Hello everyone! I have a 1998 Mazda B3000 5-speed. I belive the Vin# U. Just regular no flex fuel. I have a dead cylinder and would like to replace the engine. The problem I am running into is when I go to find a used engine at the junk yard they tell me it has to be the same year and same vehicle. Anyway the question I have is what is the difference between the 3.0 engines in other vehicles? Finding a low milage Taurus engine is easy to find but I am not sure what I may have to swap to convert it to the truck? Are the basics of these engines the same? Heads, crank, block? Any help with this would be great guys!! Thanks!
