Tell me about it. I am almost set to make a run to Swamps with my camera to settle this HPOP reservoir debate once and for all. I just don't think that everyone has a full appreciation of what is actually happening in there.

Oh, Chris, there is nothing to report. That was a great post. I love it. Absolutely useless. Maybe he was telling me something.

I've heard he's a trouble maker. I'd be willing to bet there's a squad car in front of his house right now.

My last PM with Gene mentioned where his new home was going to be. I think I'll go hunt him down and try and find his results (which I may not understand). I'll let you know if I find out anything since your our resident oil & lube expert.

Chris,

Cool, I might not understand it either!

Thanks for the kind words - I'm no expert, just passing along what I've learned. Thanks though!

You gonna be able to make it up to the North Texas Powerstroke Rally in Dallas, 3-5 October?

I did read the Diesel Place study, that's where I got the Opti-Lube info. I'm not sure if there is that much gain with a Cetane booster, I'm more after the lubricity to keep the injectors running smoother and the engine running a little quieter.

I don't know yet, maybe. Is there a ribbon for slowest truck? If not is there beer? I'll look up the particulars and see if I can make it.

Hey Rich. No settling down yet. Thanks, though, it's good to stop in when I can and check out what's going on. My 10-day outage coverage assignment is behind me, but I'm still doing nearly 1,000 miles weekly - two trips per week to one client with a weekend trip to Mobile and back to see Mom and Dad... he's still worsening, but I'll catch you up off-line and won't hijack the thread here.

If you're after the lubricity then your good to go, but don't count cetane out.

Generally, diesel engines run well with a CN from 40 to 55. Fuels with higher cetane number which have shorter ignition delays provide more time for the fuel combustion process to be completed. Hence, higher speed diesels operate more effectively with higher cetane number fuels. There is no performance or emission advantage when the Cetain is raised past approximately 55; after this point, the fuel's performance hits a plateau.

In the US Diesel generally ranges in the 40-46 range for regular diesel, and 45-50 for premium. Cat requires cetane to be a minimum of 40 in most of there diesel applications. In Europe they require cetane to be a minimum of 50.

Chris,

There is some racing but the majority is about camping, fishing, a support the troops parade, vendors, shows, & having a good time with other folks who have the same problem as we do - PMS. Ohh, and eating BBQ - lots of eating and beer (don't tell Mike - they might not have enough beer)..... I won't race this time, pulling the 5th wheel down with the kids - I don't need to get stranded if I pop something.....

Here's the link! Check out the events link on the right side of the web page......

Well, plan for Mount Rushmore in 2010 if possible - for a diesel get together/camping trip. We'll have room for you & the Mrs. A good week seeing the sights and riding through the Black Hills, Needles Gap, and maybe running with some buffalo through Custer State Park (or getting chased). Ever been chased by a Buffalo? All you need to do is outrun the slowest person....

Sorry for the continuous hijacking squaredancer!
