Hood ornament - ID?

Can anyone ID this hood ornament? No markings, approximately 9"x6" chrome-plated pot metal.

That's a 1954 Ford passenger car hood ornament. Julie posted a pic of it (Post #34) in your F-1 Strange Hood Ornament thread.

It's also identical to the one shown in the hood section (illustrated on page 476) in the 1949/59 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog.

Original Ford part number BM-16850-A.

Why did Ford use that BM prefix for 1954 Ford car part numbers? Dunno, but they did...and it's evoked laughs ever since 1954.

Is the part # on the item somewhere and I just missed it? I saw Julie's post after I posted this thread. (The other thread isn't mine, which is why I started another one).
Nothin' like a BM on the hood, huh?
Thanks for the info!

Look in between the bolts for a Ford ID number. Also look in that space underneath the front of it.

There's usually an ID number on most Ford hood ornaments from 1932 thru 1957, Edsels 1958/59, Merc's from 1939 thru 1960, Lincolns from 1936 thru 1956.

Nothing like a BM on the seats! The upholstery and everything else carried that same BM part number prefix in 1954.
