So close and yet so far - Carb/Fuel probs
#16
GOT it running last night at 2am.
It was a few things.
• Fuel pump went out so I replaced it
• Fuel filter looked clogged so replaced that too
• Took off the carb and cleaned it, replaced the fuel rail. The other was bent weird so I figured why not.
• The Fuel line from the tank to the pump was clogged, so the line was compressed from the pump trying to pull gas through the plug. Just put a air hose on one end and blew through the line till I was hearing bubbles in the tank. The tank is about 2 years old, new float and all that.
My Ford tech was working it with me all night. Then we got it on the road to attempt to drive it back home. The carb flooded and seemed really bogged down. If I stepped on the gas to hard it would die. So we TOOK it back to the shop. He adjusted the timing a hair and worked on adjusting the carb. Then I stepped on the gas and left tire marks until I took my foot off the gas! Drove it home (about 25miles) at about 65-70 the entire way. It def has more bugs to work out but she's getting there. Suspension seems pretty stiff but I'm sure since it's new nothing has really settled or had a chance to work in.
