D1VE-A3A Heads vs DOVE-C
Hi Guys.
Can i use the DOVE-C's instead of D1VE-A3A and use the same valve train, in my 460? I suppose the valve stems comes lower due to smaller combustion chambers, is that correct? Pls tell me what parts is recommended to use with those heads.
Why is it smaller plug holes in the D1VE-A3A heads and larger in the DOVE-C's. I thought Ford use the smaller holes to give more space to the valves?
Thank's in Advance.

there is no D1VE heads. do you mean the D3VE heads?
if so then the DOVE heads and the D3VE heads use totally different style of valvetrains. the DOVE heads use screw in rocker studs with rocker arms and the D3VE heads use bolt down rocker arms that use a slot machined into the head to locate the rocker arms properly. two very different valvetrain systems. also the D0VE rocker studs are positive stop studs that you torque the nut down. they are non-adjustavle as are the D3VE rocker arms.
the D3VE heads use a .1" shorter valve to compensate for the larger chambers (basically the chambers ont he D3VE heads are .1" higher than onthe D0VE heads).
as for pushrods, depends on the block more than anything. the 460 used different deck heights over the years, so the pushrods have to match the deck height and valvetrain as the valvetrains are basically non-adjustable stock. you will have to assemble your long block and use an adjustable pushrod to determine lenght of pushrods you will need.
hope this makes sense.
