Twin Turbos

Is there any companies out there that build a twin turbo kit for the 7.3 powerstroke.

Compounds are what you want. One turbo feeding the other turbo. The turbos you put on are dependent on what you want to do with your truck. There is a company that makes a few different sets for the 7.3. . . . but i can't remember their name. Black widow diesel maybe? I can't remember.

Diesel Innovations, Wide Open Performance, Blackwidow Diesel, any of the big performance shops who sell them, can most likely fab up a compound kit for you. Problem is, to justify the use of compounds, you'd need several thousands of motor work, transmission work, and injector work to justify needing them. Super quick spool, low EGT and alot of AIRRR

That is a true twin setup. Problem is, there's not enough room. I could get into the details and go way over your head with some stuff, but the idea is to get as much oxygen molecules into the cylinder as you can, at the lowest temperature. Twin turbos won't do that for a 7.3 with poor head design and such. Instead of flowing in alot of CFM at a low pressure you have to sacrifice some CFM but ram it into the cylinders as hard as you can.

so if you didnt want to ram the air in youd have to upgrade the heads so you could get more cfms in at a lower pressure but then again it would probbably cost at least $5000 or more to get it set up

$5000 or so would just get you a good port job. The heads are still 2v design, the intake ports SUCK at flowing alot of air, and the HEUI design would be better replaced with a little commonrail injector nozzle. You'd be looking at 30K plus for a set of CNC heads that would be the cats ***!

Anyway, its not about "not wanting" to ram the air in, it's just the only decision you're left with.

I stopped by and visited with Luke Cline on my way to South Dakota. He recently finished his twin turbo setup, maybe a little tweaking left to do but for the most part it's done. I can't believe how big that turbo is! It sure is a tight fit in there but the setup works. I was surprised to hear how well it towed with a 17k+ load. Send him a PM, he's on here once in a while - he can give some hands on experience.
