Overhead Shelf.........

Anyone know of an overhead shelf for the 2004 F150 that won't be in the way of the overhead rail system? I've been all over google and can't find anything for that year except for the heritage.

Have you considered adding another drop down to the rail system? Or do you need a lot more space than it offers?

I actually want the shelf to use mainly to mount a CB. I used one as a CB mount in a Ranger I had years ago and it worked out great.

IMO the overhead rail systems for the F150 are crap unless you use it for the drop down DVD players for the kiddies in the back seat.

There are lots of things available for the overhead rail systems. I don't think they are crap. Quite ingenious if you think about it, you can add things without requiring additional wiring.

iPod interfaces, DVD players, handsfree phones that you control with your voice, extra storage bins, satellite radios, AC inverter (Black and Decker makes this), 22 channel 2-way radios, fishing pole holder (no kidding), first aid kit, cd storage...

I'm sure there are a lot more. You might find a railport system for CBs if you do a web search, but the 70s CB fad doesn't have the following it once had so maybe not, not much of a market.

Sad but true, the CB is now mostly relegated to it's original users, the OTR truckers. And today's hands free communications are cutting into the few CB sales left. The hands free phone route may be the better choice.

I do a lot of interstate traveling. Either pulling my boat to the lake, or visiting the family. A CB is still the best radar detector out there.
