Hi, just new in this forum & don't seem to find a thread for this. I am left with 1 key for this 2000 Lincoln navigator so I duplicated 1 without knowing that my last key is a PAT key, and tried the new duplicate key(not a PAT key), and "theft" mssg. started blinking. I then tried my original Key (PAT key), which started the car, however if I stop the engine and removed my PAT key, "theft" mssg is coming back. Tried disconnecting my battery but still the same. Any answers and solutions are appreciated...Thanks.

 

Read your owner's manual. Download a copy from Ford if your original is missing.

The THEFT light is SUPPOSED to flash when the ignition is turned OFF.

I was thinking the same thing. The light flashes when the ignition is off.

 

Yeah, it flashes to make people believe there is an alarm on the vehicle. That is part of the PATS system.

 

Thanks...Just curious, it did not happened this "theft"flashing until only after I inserted a key that is not PAT....
