65 econoline p/u

I have a line on a 65 econoline pickup. I was told it was a california special. Can somebody elaborate on this for me? What makes it a California special?
Any idea what it is worth?

There's no such thing as a California Special Econoline.

The only California Special Ford ever made is a 1968 Mustang 2 door HT, which featured the side scoops from a GT 350/500, a built in spoiler on the decklid, special taillights (off a T/Bird) other CS only trim.

Ok, I'm familiar with the mustang. Is there anything unique about a 65 econoline pickup, any limited run econolines in 65?

Ford had all sorts of springtime sales promotions every year. Some were national, some were regional.

In 1965, I was working for Stockton-Quincy Ford in Westwood (LA suburb, home of UCLA). I bought a new F100 from them, which I still have.

IF there had been any sort of California Special sales promotion back then, I would have remembered it.

I'm a nut on this stuff. Not only was I a Ford partsman for 35 years, but have been collecting Ford vehicles longer than most members of FTE have been on the planet.

To say I know the product and the history of Ford Motor Company, would be an understatement.

Thanks guys. It's a cool truck, blasted, painted, 289 installed, very cleanly done. Needs glass and chrome reinstalled. Guy wants $8000. A little out of my price range, especially if it's not any more collectable than a run of the mill 65
