The only people that need IDM's at that price are the people who only know how to get in, turn the key, push the throttle.... and say things like "I don't know what's wrong, I pushed the gas(in a diesel) and it started running funny, and just stopped!!" "Daddy, help me.."

Those prices aren't for people like us. While it's nice to have a parts guy on line and supporting this site. But it's worthless if he doesn't frequent the forum and tries to sell synthetic blinker fluid.......which is all a $700 IDM is to us. Just callin' it like I see it.

Mid to late IDM 100's and all IDM 110 are the good units. Early 100's
are good just mid to late have better internals.
The IDM 120's are built with inferior parts. I stay away from the 120's.
In 2000 there was a bad run of IDM's (120) build date from OEO5 and
OEO26. Broadcast Message #9366. These IDM's would cause a intermittent
misfire.

wow, really guys!

you call me a typical parts guy. lol

I throw it back at you with a typical backyard mech, and look who gets all butt hurt!

I do not claim to know how to work on or repair these trucks, but I have been in Ford parts since 1982. I can said with 100% certainty there is a different part number for the different years listed in the catalog. The catalog in which the manufacture supplies me, the same manufacture that invested millions of dollars developing the parts in these trucks. AND THEY LIST DIFFERENT PART NUMBERS FOR DIFFERENT YEARS NOT ME. So when I see a part number listed on a part that does not fit that applacation I'm going to provide the information to the people that need it. I'm not here to get in a pissing match. Mind my manners. grow up. I am trying to provide a service to people that can use it. I dont think I need to be slamed for pointing out a part number that is incorrect or take a bunch of crap from people who don't know me.

you want to make it personal I'm right here at 1100 oyster bay ave bremerton wa 98312.

email tough guy crap won't cut it.

Too bad this isn't my forum to moderate. You've been infracted twice for insulting another member.

If Ford has different part numbers for the same part, there's a reason. They don't duplicate part numbers without a very good reason.

Even this "backyard mechanic" knows that.

Now, you might be able to "get away with it". You might be able to buy "rebuilt" units on eBay - and by "rebuilt" I mean bought out of a junkyard, cleaned up and resold.

Besides the knock sensor circuitry, there are at least two different voltage outputs that I can find.

Do you really want to chance it by throwing any old part in there?

Never mind

No one argued the point of different part numbers ,,that is a given

We were ,for all intents & purposes ,called hack's

That is where the problem began...& I responded ..Period...

What are you talking about? Knock sensor! On a 7.3 PSD, I don't know what manual you're reading, but it's the wrong one.
