Hey guys,

So today I went to fill up our farm truck with gas, 1997 F-250 Light duty 4.6L, and turns out our bulk gas tank was filled with dyed diesel. Never occured to me to check what fuel was in it, since it has been a gas tank for the last 20 years. So all in all, we have to drain a full tank of diesel/gas out of this truck. Had a look at the fuel filter, fairly easy to access but how the heck does it come apart. Is there another location I can open up and let the fuel pump suck the fuel out? Tryed syphoning the gas out of the tank through the filler cap, but it must be anti-syphone desiegned. Any help would be appreciated!

 

What i would do in your case:
-Drop the tank and remove all the diesel/gas you can(if a little is left it wont be a real big deal as long as you fill the tank up to dilute it alot)
-Go to Autozone and pick up a fuel filter removal tool and a new fuel filter.
-Remove filter, let lines drain as much as they can.. then install new filter
-Then while someone cycles the key, press down on the schrader valve that is located on the fuel rail.
-Purge out the deisel/gas mix till you smell just gas, then let the gas that came out of the schrader valve dry
-Now it should be ready to start
