Gas Tank Sending Unit - Vintique - Rust
If you've installed a GAS TANK SENDING UNIT ---- I'd suggest checking it !!!
I found a VINTIQUE ( STAMPED ON TOP ) brand unit in my 1947 pickup -- a previous owner had installed ---- it looked brand new on the top --- but inside it had totally rusted out - even thru the float ---- see my comments below ----------------------- .
I have had a problem with rust in the gas tank on my 1947 1/2 ton ----- and what it turned out to be is a --- "VINTIQUE" brand GAS TANK SENDING UNIT --- RUST -- EVEN THE FLOAT WHICH IS USUALLY BRASS -- WAS RUSTED THRU ------- JUNK !!!!

That sounds like a bad news Chinese part. The Ford senders lasted forever. A friend has a Chevy 383 all tricked out. He purchased a new Chrome thermostat cover. After only a couple years it was junk. He couldnt figure out what kind of metal it was made from, but it was porous and soft, and made in China.

Yes I'm sure it was --- not sure what it'll take for the USA to get back on track.
Things are cheap or should I say "CHEAP" ,but also junk so many times.
When working on these ole trucks you best not replace it if it "ain't broke" - cause the new part probably won't be as good as the OLD part - many times.

I had to do an edit ------ When checking my posting the word "trucks" above was highlighted so I checked to see what it would show --------- AND WOOOOOOOO IT WAS AN AD FOR A CHEBBY TRUCK !!!!!
