While browsing through the specs for my Expedition EL, I read that it should be equiped with the 3.73 rear end. Then I read that, that, rear end is discontinued. If I remember correctly, I should be able to discern from the vin what rear end I have. What would be the code for that?

 

16= 3.73
15= 3.31

 

would those numbers be in the vin or elsewhere?
I looked at the vin and neither a 15 or 16 appear.

Second line from the bottom on the VIN plate. Here's mine:

Axle = 16 = 3.73



Can anyone translate the other data? I figured out the 119" wheel base.

If You have the EL then,

You have the 3.73 Rear Axle

Are You saying that You read that Ford is Discontinueing

the 3.73 Rear Axle on the 2009 EL Models?

 

build date 02/07, gvw = weight. separated into front, and rear below the total. tire size/rims size and recommended psi.

ext pnt= exterior paint code
int tr= interior trim code
spr= spring code(1st 2 digits front springs, last 2 digits rear springs.

thats the extent of my knowledge!
