Fresh frame and rear suspension?

Ok... I got a fresh '55 frame for my '56 yesterday... Spent more in diesel fuel than the actual frame but thats for another forum...

I'm 95% sure I want to put a 4-link in the rear for strength and ride quality. I'm planning on running a 460 and abusing it when the need arises...

Am I heading the right direction? What company would you go with for the 4-link?

Thanks,
JB

On the 54 in my gallery, yes... the green 55 uses a volare front and mustang 8.8 rear.

on the 54 we used the TCI Mustang II front end, and the TCI leaf spring kit, not the 4 bar.

After comparing prices... maybe a leaf spring setup in the back will suffice...

Jason Thorbecke at Suicidedoors.com will hook you up. I designed a 4-link triangulated suspension for my 56 and he built it to spec. I can send you the drawings if you wish. The beauty of a triangulated setup is that there is no panhard bar. Thorbecke also has a full line of airbag bracketry and equipment.

My tubs were from Jason. I am running a triangulated system for the ford 8.8 rear from AirRide. (for a cheby, but adapted by me for the f100)..

it gets crowded with the triangulation bars..

I have the shockwave 8007 and universal triangulated 4-link which I am installing in my '56 F-100. If time is not of the essence and you have a little patience I will document the install beginning this weekend and let you know how it goes.

The whole setup was something in the neighborhood of $1200 (including a schrader valve kit for airing before installing the valves, tank, compressor, etc...).

Mine was like $850 7 years ago. 2 upper arms (since redone), and two lower arms, 2 airbags, 2 upper bag mounts. and some air line & fittings.

valves, compressor, switch extra. ($200)

if you use ONE set of valves left/right, then make sure you have a sway bar to stop the side to side movement of air from one bag to another (I didn't think of that!..)

No truer words have been spoken.
No patience+no money=no progress.
