Pete, thanks. I wonder how much shipping would cost? Anyone know the weight of an F1 hood? I'd guess 60 pounds.

Pete, I'll get back to you in the next day or so.

C'mon Scott !

Just lay your hood upside-down and have one of your larger knucklehead friends (my size - no doubt they have them where you live) do a metal memory "dance" where that tree fell.......

I plan on it! hydraulic press at work might do the trick, too.

Roger,

I'm not going to touch that. It just proves the poor people who got sucked into less good looking truck just can't get over their jealousy of not being to own the better designed truck.

Be honest, how can you compare this:

with this:

Havi,

I shipped a hood from WI to NY via Greyhound a couple of years ago for around $40. I would assume it might have gone up a bit since then, just like everything else. The biggest hassle is packaging it and taking it down to the Greyhound station. Hopefully, the stations aren't too far from either the sender or receiver. If either has to drive 50 miles I don't think it's worth it.

Compare them? Simple....they are both good starts to a nice truck! All you have to do with the red one, is replace the front clip - fenders, hood and grill...oh yeah, and dash, and you'd be on your way to a nice truck! Now, the bottom one, has all the right pieces, already, just needs a little elbow grease...you can clean up rust, you can't clean up ugly...

The mirrors alone are worth working on the '52...plus the fact that it's a panel truck, I think. I'm really beginning to like the panels. Kinda grow on you.

Hey Havi, those trucks in your sig are in North Dakota...just for thought

RC, I'd say just the opposite. The second one's a great start if you can take the front clip and dash from the red truck and put it on the rusty one. Panels are awesome.

But then, you'd still have an ugly truck...with nice panels.

I do like the look of the smaller back window. Some say it's harder to see, but I use my mirrors, pretty much exclusively, so I probably wouldn't notice. My ideal would be a '51/2 with the small window...

It will take a lot more than just swapping the front clip and dash to save this beast. The panel is a real bucket, it's currently on uPay with a starting price of $500. The main problems with panels are they rust off of the frame and there's nothing to left to repair. This doesn't have much left of the body or the rear doors, one of the hardest parts, second only to original seats, to find.

Roger, you picked the only part, the small back window, that I think the '48-50 is lacking. That little back window does cause two major blinds spots. I too use my mirrors but I also like to be able to glance around to make sure there isn't a dinky little car or crotch rocket next to me.

Bob - that's a problem with most panels? That's a shame. They do look nice. Of course, I can see why, with the rust I found in my cab, and it's wide open for drainage, whereas the panel, probably not so much. Guess I'll have to keep looking for my COE...or not...

Not even looking ahead, have to finish this one, first - got the whole front done, as soon as I get my drums back tomorrow, the front end should hit the floor.

Just to hijack, do you think it would be easier doing the clutch/brake pedals and master before dropping the flattie in, or is it easy enough afterwards? I'd like to get the motor in, as it's taking up space, and I'd like to get it running - it's been a while.
