4.6l intake on 5.4l

Ive looked through tons of engine swap posts and cant seem to come to a conclusion.

What i have is a 97 f150 with the 5.4l, stock these motors are dogs. But they are pretty easy to wake up. In my opinion an edge evolution is a great way to go.

What i want to do is some intake work. I already put a cold air on it and felt no real power gains or no real deductions in quarter time. Also i saw no increase in gas mileage.

Ive found that edelbrock makes an aftermarket intake for the 4.6l that looks like a vast improvement over stock. its made to convert the 4.6l into a carberated drag motor but it still comes with fuel injector bungs and custom aluminum fuel rails (for nitrous or fuel injection) edelbrock also makes Throttle Body elbows and HIPO throttle bodies for both the 4.6l and the 5.4l. So. Does anyone know for sure that a 4.6l intake will fit a 5.4l motor? Anyone ever tried this? I think if you were able to put a high flow intake on these motors with some bigger injectors, say, 28# there would be a huge increase in power over stock and even bigger with the programmer. Or will a stock intake off an N/A lightning fit these 5.4l 2 valves? Just my ideas. Any thoughts?

The 4.6 intake doesn't fit the 5.4. The 5.4 is wider. Before I swapped my 4.6 for a 5.4 I ported the intake to increase the air flow. Can't tell you how much difference it made but my truck runs good. I don't know of anyone that makes a high flow intake for the 5.4.

Thanks! thats exactly what i needed to know. How much did it cost to get your intake ported? And are you running stock heads?

Swap a PI intake and PI heads onto the NPI block and you will get some good power, you will also have to run the highest octane fuel in your area. You can put 4.6L intakes on 5.4L's but you have to buy very expensive adapter plates, you can find them for $200-$400. You can also just swap a PI intake onto the 5.4L but it requires that you plug some of the cooling passages with RTV. Also http://www.karkraft.com/ has every intake known to man for the modulars. They were the first, that I know of, that came out with carb intakes for them.
