Crankshaft pulley bolt removal ?

I spent several hours this afternoon trying to get the balancer/pulley bolt loose, tried my impact wrench, tried a strap wrench and breaker bar, went and bought a new bigger impact wrench and still couldn't budge it, who does Ford have install the dang things, Guido the Giant ? Any ideas ?

I think the bolt is left hand thread on the pulley.

yes...every crankshaft bolt I've ever pulled was reversed threaded. that way it doesn't loosen when the pulley spins under normal engine use.

I'll bet you've got that thing on tight as hell

Let me go outside and look at my 06 with the 5.4. I am going to pull the bolt and see what could be holding you up.

Finally got it off, My brother came over to help, ended up crawling in the engine bay with one foot against the pulley, by the way, it is a normal bolt, NOT left hand thread !

What size is the crankshaft pulley bolt on the 5.4L? I need to rotate the engine by hand to remove the torque converter bolts to remove the transmission. I have to replace the flexplate as the starter ground it up (friends truck btw).

Thanks in advance-
