OK here is the story, went to local hardware store for new bolts. When i am installing something I try and replace the bolts. They only had a few grade 8 in the size i needed. 3/8 1.75. So i got some grade 8 and some grade 5. I have a Craftsman 3/8 and 1/2 torque wrench. the nice ones from craftsman, that have been calbrated at a "goverment" lab. Went through the bolt pattern, first at finger tight, 10 FP then 20 FP, then I was doing the final at 32 FP. the bolt broke off in the block! I had to pull the intake again, and messed up the new gasket. I was able to get the remains of the bolt out. Was not able to find a new gasket up here or in Espanola . I have one showing up here at 6:00 this afternoon.

I looked at the "grade" 5 bolts that I was sold and noticed no markings on the head. It looks like i was sold ungraded bolts for the price of grade 5. I have bought new bolts that have the proper marks for grade 8 and are made in the USA. Should have looked harder at the bolts before i tried to install them.

So for now on I will only buy US made bolts the check the markings first!!
