EGT gauge location

I am going to install aftermarket EGT gauge. Do not want to remove A pillar handle. Any ideas for location? CB already takes foldout cupholder location.
Thanks

There are companies making A pillar mounts for 1 or 2 gauges and fit under the factory handle so you dont have to remove it. Ebay also has some generic gauge holders that I have seen many users apply to their liking. The overhead gauge pod for the pre-08 trucks should work as well.

I was also thinking about mounting my CB in place of the fold out cup holders. Got any pics? I couldnt figure out how to get to the screw from behind on the passenger side. I had everything else loose except that 1 screw. Any secrets?

EGT Gauge placement

Thanks for the help. Do you know any companies that might supply the single A pillar pod for the 2008 F250 SuperDuty that does leave the grab handle in place?

I will get a photo for you showing the DB mounting. My arrangment makes the foldout cupholder non usable except when the CB unit is removed.

eBay Motors: 2" UNIVERSAL SINGLE GAUGE DASH POD FOR CAR TRUCK BLACK (item 250277378930 end time Aug-05-08 12:03:32 PDT)

eBay Motors: UNIVERSAL DUAL GAUGE PILLAR POD (item 350083977129 end time Aug-04-08 20:32:55 PDT)

I didnt look for specific applications but here are a couple examples of universal versions. Look in to Glo shift, Pro Parts, and Autometer for more specific applications. Im sure there are others as well, maybe someone else will chime in.

You could also get the full pillar pod (for a clean appearance) and cut out the holes for the handle.

I've seen folks in here use a pod that goes above the rear view mirror.

Looks pretty good actually.

If I can locate the thread, I'll direct it this way.

I am in the same shoes, contemplating whether or not to remove the pillar handle for gauges.

Couple of questions.

Do you have the gauges already and are in going to do the install?. Also if you buy a pillar are you going to paint it?

The only reason i ask is their are alot of diffrent things you can do besides the the basic EGT gauge that you have to tap into the exhaust. Depending what you will have into it will depend on the diffrent options you have you get the best value for your buck.

EGT gauge

EGT gauge not in as yet. Would like to avoid tapping into the exhaust and am having trouble finding someone in the San Francisco area that will do it.
What other options are there to monitor?

Here are some other moniters you could go with

Dash Hawk DashHawk Vehicle Information Display You will have check but i think this unit might only do the post turbo EGT's. I'd call them.

Dash Daq DashDAQ Series II - customizable OBD2 gauges, data logging, dianostics, and GPS Navigation (this will require an additional licence
to get the ford specific pips. With the up grade you can read the pre EGT shown below.

Spartan Phlanx Console:

If you have any plans of future tunning i would go with the Spartan Phlanx.
Spartan Diesel Technologies - Technology Beyond Performance! The spartan console has all the sensors you need and many more.

The sensor you want to moniter the EGT's thru is this sensor shown below which is the EGR inlet temp. This provides a post turbo EGT reading.

Correct,
I have the DashHawk and hope it reads the egt. I moved it from my 2005 6.0 to the new F450 but I can't get it to read egt yet. Updating the firmware today. We will see.

Update, Loaded new firmware, Ver 2.5 looks like fuel press, and egt will be read....Cool

Bully Dog PMT custom mount Ford 6.4L 08

I am currently installing this in my 08. It fits a 2 1/16 gauge, you do have to take some plastic out of the oe dash, but very minor!!!!
