Max towing went to 11,300...pretty good for 1/2-ton pick-up. 11,200 for Crew Cab 4x4 short bed.

is this backwards?

Can we go 56 mph in 4x4 low?

The ELD will not engage if the vehicle speed is above 20 mph

(30 km/h) in 4X4 High or 56 mph (90 km/h) in 4X4 Low

Electronic locking differential (ELD) (if equipped)[/LEFT]
The electronic locking differential (ELD) is a device housed in the rear
axle which allows both rear wheels to turn at the same speed. The ELD
can provide additional traction should the vehicle become stuck. The
ELD is electronically activated by the driver and can be shifted on the
fly. It is intended for use in mud, rocks, sand, or any off-road condition
where maximum traction is needed. It is not intended for use on dry
pavement.
The ELD is affected by the following conditions:
The 4WD control must be in either 4H or 4L mode.

The ELD will not engage if the vehicle speed is above 20 mph
(30 km/h) in 4X4 High or 56 mph (90 km/h) in 4X4 Low.

In 4X4 High, the ELD will disengage at speeds above 25 mph
(40 km/h) and will automatically reengage at speeds below 20 mph
(30 km/h).

In 4X4 Low, the ELD will disengage at speeds above 62 mph
(100 km/h) and will automatically reengage at speeds below 56 mph
(90 km/h).

The ELD will not engage if one wheel is spinning 9 mph (15 km/h)
faster than the other.
The ELD is designed for off-road use only.

Yeah, on the test drive take it up to 62 m.p.h. in 4x4 low and watch the salesman's face! LOL!

A pretty well though out, yet long manual. Too bad there aren't any actual 09's on dealer lots for us to see, ride, and decide on.

Yeah, those numbers are backwards as to the max speed for the ELD. My '08 F150 SCREW 4x4 manual says 50mph for 4Hi and 20mph for low IIRC. Gotta go into neutral for 4L at a dead stop in real life. Smooth shift from 2H to 4H at 30 mph. That's the highest speed I've switched to 4H in it yet. Doesn't like to come out of 4L or 4H without going into neutral.

I think the rods would disengage from the crank @ 62mph in low range!!

I'm very dissappointed that you have to get a 3 valve V-8 in order to get the 6 speed tranny with tow/haul mode. The standard or existing 4.6L will come with the existing 4 speed auto. I'm sure that have their reasons, but what a let down. I figured it would be inclused like on the Expy.

The Expy uses only the 5.4 as the engine option the 4.6 was dropped in 04.
