Fender Flares

Hey Guys,
I have an 06 FX4 with those crappy fender flares that discolor. Did the Lariats in the same year have painted ones, and if they did, am I correct that they should just bolt on to the FX4? I wanted to go with the painted ones, but don't really know which route I should take, as far as OEM or aftermarket. The dealership said they would probably replace the original ones, but after it goes out of warranty, I will be on my own. Thanks in advance.

Scott

Would think they would bolt right up, but in the meantime, have you tried using Mother's Back To Black on your existing flares? I use it on my door handles, windshield cowling and the other trim pieces that are prone to fade. Brings the color right back and it lasts a while too.

the 2004-2008 Lariats have smooth textured paint matched flares
the 2004-2008 FX4's have black (some say blue) rough textured/unpainted flares

they mount the same. just cost more for the Lariats

Scott,
I really disliked the look of the textured gray fender flares on my '06 FX4 so I found a set of take-offs on ebay for just over $100. The ones I bought were in perfect shape and already matched my truck (black) so all I had to do was bolt them on. They are bolted on the ends and use the black plastic push pins throughout the middle. I recommend getting new push pins because they'll either break or be really deformed trying to get them out in one piece.

Do the take offs that you bought look exactly like the lariate flares from Ford?
