06 F-150 4x4 submerged in salt water

I dont have pictures but it was a site to see. My nephew called me last night saying he needed help down at the boat ramp. Girlfriend doesnt get it in park before getting out. Truck and trailer goes down and off the end the ramp. I get there and its out of site. Is it worth buying back for cheap from insurance company and trying to fix. Machanically after changing all the fluids, but electrically???? computer to start. What else?

Leave it in the sea. Every electrical connection will be corroded.

Well its going be covered in salt all over inside pinch welds and what not. Like said above every connection will be corroded, unless you spend the time to clean everything and I mean everything out from top to bottom it might be worth it. Not to mention all of the sensors and electrical devices that are toast and will need replacing.

Even though I have a hard time letting any vehicle go, If I was in your shoes I'd take the money and find a new truck. It's not like it's an older, harder to find truck. There's probably 50 within 100 miles of you that look identical.

Trying to think of a way it could be made into a project, but after being in salt water there's not much left you'll be able to use without a bunch of work.

It was like a 350. . .then maybe I'd save the axles IF it was super cheap. . .at least those are small enough to be scrubbed and treated, but since it aint. . .

If nothing else, you'd be the envy of your neighbors with such a shiny new Shootin' Truck

There is a reason why trucks for fisherman last about 3-5 years max before they usually start failing apart at the seams and develop lots of weird problems. Salt. Take the money and run is what I would tell them.

Unless, you are planning on doing a frame off and turning it into a carb vehicle, because I know I wouldn't want a computer controlled vehicle that got completely dunked into salt water, I would skip this project.

You know the first most frustrating thing that will probably fail first? The door handle switches for the dome light or the dome light itself will start to stay on for no reason. Then every other open electric switch in the vehicle over the course of two years.
