Headlights won't come on

My problem is with my headlights they won't come on but the brights will when I hold the handle but that may annoy people. Changed the fuse and the bulbs nothing changed.
Any help would be great.

My instinct say it's either the Dimmer switch (cheapest & quick change) or the headlight switch.

Do you have a relay for your lights? Mine would go out all the time but on my car the harnest connector thing to the colum melted for some reason and now my brights are on when the lights shouldn't be on unless the right turn signal is on strange. I would look at those, especialy if you installed a cd player or something, lights are good grounds till you turn them on

Do you have anything wires into the lights? Fog lights or anything? I know some wire their fog lights to either the parking lights or headlights. If so, you could have melted the switch. The switch will not handle the extra current.

I had the same problem with my '96 Explorer The culprit was the multi-purpose switch on the steering column. Boy - it would have been so much easier if I had known the multi purpose switch could also wipe out the headlights. Replacing the headlights switch was a bear and it proved not to be necessary!

Good luck

Tony
