Idea for a winter(ish) meet - SoCal/Az?

I'm just putting this out there to see who would be interested in getting together with the Az. chapter sometime this late winter/early spring for a meet somewhere along the Colorado River.

Sounds nice as I travel to Chandler about once a month for racing, but, due to the cost of fuel, I pull a tiny trailer with my VW rather than my trailer with the truck.

Who's footing the Petrol cost?
If 2 members wish to ride w/ me & foot the cost or I could double up w/ another member in their rig, as it's been awhile between good paying gigs.

Bill,

If you're going to the river, why go all the way to "Tyson's Wells" to meet?

That's about twenty bucks of additional diesel burned unnecessarily.

Who said anything about Tyson's Wells?

If it takes you 4 gallons of diesel to get to the Hi Jolly Monument from the CA/AZ border, something is terribly wrong with your truck.

The monument is in Quartzsite, one gallon (prolly less) of diesel away from Blythe.

OK, TEN bucks of fuel. That's two gallons, since you then have to come back to the river, as that's where it was proposed to go, "somewhere along the Colorado River". Why overshoot to "Tyson's Wells", only to have to come back to the Blythe area?

Quartzsite was called Tyson's Wells in Hi Jolly's day. I've stopped more than once and read the plaque under the copper camel (which I'm surprised has survived to this day).

Would love to go 4x4'ing anywhere, however my truck is not running, and my finances won't allow me to fix it. Maybe by fall/winter one or the other will have changed, and I can make the trek.

I'm interested, depending on location and when. There's alway Lake Havasu or Parker for fun with lots of off roading around the areas.

Hey Brady, is that the same Cibola area that's about 15 minutes south of Blythe? With the camp sites that border the river?
