Question Will a 6.0 Fuel Pump Work in the 7.3l?

I have a 2003 6.0l fuel pump assy. It has the fuel filter built in to the pump.
Would the wiring (relays & fuses) hold up with this pump?

Does the 6.0 pump, pump more ? faster?

Thanks Bobby

I'm sure if the 6.0 and 7.3 could use interchangeable pumps,. there would have only been 1.

Sell the 6.0 pump and buy a 7.3 pump....

Bump for you...

And the downside is, it's a pain to crawl under there and get messy trying to change it. Welcome to FTE RDCampbell.

It looks like the 6.0 pump has 2 lines going in and 2 coming out (at least in the diagram). It looks like the're made to run a min. of 45 psi fuel pressure, which just happens to be the exact same min. fuel pressure for the 7.3.

Since the fuel pump is an on/off type of contraption, and excess fuel still returns to the tank, I don't see any reason this wouldn't work. It will probably require some slight modifications to the plumbing and electrical, and you'll have no way of knowing when the water separator down there needs draining. I'd carry the 7.3 pump and some hoses with me after the swap just in case you develop any issues.

If you do this, let us know how it works out.

6.0l Lift Pump? Racor Filter?

I have a Racor Marine filter and would like to do a lift pump and a pull pump.

Kinda like this:
Welcome to guzzle's Helper/Lift pump Web Page

Using the 6.0l pump as the lift pump, @ the tank (not inside).

The racor is a 2 micron filter. I have all of these items, just looking to see
how they would work together.

Thanks Bobby

There is a truck locally that was t boned and I'm buying the fuel line, but if you want the pump which is still good let me know and i'll have him set it aside also. The 6.0 pump has 4 connections, and doesn't interchange w/o some modifications to your fuel system from what i have heard. You're in Fl though so it may be a bear to ship...

My stock pump is fine. I would like to add the Racor filter between tank and pump. But I don't want to over work the pump.

I wouldnt bother trying to use the 6.0 pump. For the effort you could find replacement pump to flow whatever demands you want. I "think" the 6.0 runs higher pressure then the 7.3 also.
