Starting a Cleveland/Akron/Lorain Group

Hello everyone:

I am a member on Ford-Trucks.com, but I am not currently a member of the Ohio Chapter. I will be joining shortly.

In the meantime, I was thinking of something interesting that would help Ford enthusiasts like myself gain even more knowledge. If we could start a meet-up group for the Cleveland/Akron/Lorain area, then we could share ideas on how to repair Ford trucks and cars (all models). We could even do some altruistic work and help fix cars of people that cannot afford to hire a mechanic. That would add even more knowledge to our mental date banks, plus give us all tons of experience.

Personally, I have been ecstatic over being able to fix my 1995 F-150 inline 6 truck. I have saved thousands, and this forum has been a Godsend. I think that if people like us could meet once a week somewhere, we could give classes on certain vehicles and become experts in this area. Who knows, it may even be a great way to make money on the side, while at the same time helping people (especially those that get ripped off at the mechanic) to get their cars or trucks fixed.

If this is of any interest to anyone, feel free to reply.

Steve

P.S. I am an HVAC/R mechanic and teacher by trade, but I still love using my mechanical and teaching skills in the automotive field as well.

Hi Steve, great idea...if you need assistance in getting a mass private message sent out to those members you want to target for this developing group, let me know.

About a mass message:

Hello:

Yes, that would be perfect. I will put together a mass message for all the Ohio Chapter people. Who knows, maybe we have lots of them that are living in the Cleveland/Akron/Lorain area.

My goal is to meet at different places where we could all park our vehicles and help one another with repairs. Could you imagine the knowledge bank one would have if you did this for six months. You'd be a Ford repair expert.

And yes, in the long run, this could lead to everyone on the side making more money. God knows we need it in this rough economy, and many people are feeling the strains of having to take their vehicles to the mechanic.

Anyway, I'll put something interesting together. Again though, I am hoping there are more people in my area that subscribe to this local forum.

Steve

I'm just south of Akron area, but might be interested in trying to help somehow. Not sure what plans you have in mind, but I'll keep an eye out of more information.

I say lets have our first meeting at summit racing during truck fest meet this weekend. I will be there in one of many 56 ford trucks. (red restored big window, black small window rat rod, or the yellow F600) Problably the yellow F600. Noon where ever it is I park.

Kevin,
I have ten FTE stickers that Adrain sent me, just got them Saturday, I am saving three of them for the guys that showed up for the last meeting, and one for myself, leaving six, if you want them for your impromptu G2G let me know, these are kinda hard to come by. so let me know.

When is the show? Sat or Sun? If Sat, I'll be in PA at Mack dealer show with my B61.
Could have cruised my '69 up since I'm just a few minutes south of there.
