Running rough...

Hey guys, need some advice.

My 96 F350 has 155,000 miles and has never had a nut turned on it. Hasn't been driven 300 miles in the last 4 months (fuel prices). This morning it fired right up, I drove about 2 miles when the Check Engine light came on and it started running rough. I got on the highway, light went out and seemed OK. About 5 miles down the road, I went to turn when the light came back on and it really started running rough. Nearly died. I turned around and headed back home. Light stayed on the entire time, it shifted bad, I guess from the rough idle. Acts as though it's starving for fuel.

Fuel Pump maybe?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You might want to scan for codes. It could take a lot of guess out of finding the problem.

Check your fuel filter, tell us what you find.

Just received a call from the mechanic. Says fuel to #5 cylinder at high demand is the problem. He's hoping when he removes the valve cover he'll find a burnt wire. If not this, he will investigate further.

Thanks

Turns out it was the wiring harness inside the valve cover.
