Brake pedal close to the floor

The brake pedal in my truck does nor engage until close to the floor. Pumping the pedal does no good. The pedal does not fade it just does not engage until it is about even with the gas pedal.
Any Ideas.

If drum rear brakes(I can't remember whether they were disk by then or still drum)one or both adjusters rusted, frozen causing exssesive shoe clearance to drum, a thought or possible exsessive slack between pedal and master cyl. either in linkage to booster or booster to master. There is a rod from the booster to master cyl. piston that is adjustable, have to be carefull not to adjust too far out as will close off return hydrolic ports to cyl. caussing brake application and drag with the pedal released. When I adjusted this rod for a new cyl. repacement I would run the adjust out until when I held the cyl to booster with no pressure the rod against the piston would hold the cyl out away from the booster housing then I would run the adjust back to where the cyl just seated against the booster housing then back it in quarter turn more to assure min piston rod contact when released. I know there is an official way to set this up but at the time I found this faster and accurate.

I think he said adjust the rear brakes...unless you have done recent brake work ( i.e. -replacing the master cylinder or brake booster),that should fix your problem...

Yep, your right that is what I said, I did address the possibilty of some thing comming loose around the brake pedal, booster, to master cyl. I have had the last two days off after 2 weeks steady and was really letting my mind run wild.
