Help with rattling calipers.

The only rattle in my 69 f-250 is comming from my wheel calipers or possibly the pads. I know it's the brakes because the rattle stops when I press on the brake pedal.

It sounds as though the front is falling apart.

Is there a way to tighten or firm up the calipers?

The calipers are heavy duty, very large.

Might be wheel bearings, although have seen where the rotor was eaten right though, on discs when the brake was applied the rotor would stop, the hub still turning, on a Ply. van..Pap.

I'd get a hardware kit at the first convenience, all the anti-rattle parts are in that.

If they are the twin piston Dayton calipers, they should have springs that fit between the pads on the pin. It is likely the were lost during a brake pad change. They hold hold the pads tight against the pistons away from the rotor.

Go to Schucks/Napa/Auto Bone or any other auto parts store and ask for a caliper hardware kit for your truck.
The kit for your truck looks like #H5506.
I would highly recommend lubricating the slides with a teflon grease like Magnalube. I have used this stuff for over ten years now, and use it pretty much exclusively now.
