New problem - 1970 F250 truck stalls when trying to start

I put a new gas tank in it a couple of months ago. Have had no issues with the truck until this morning. Fired it up and ran fine all the way to the tire store. Jumped back in it to head home, fired it up and was no my way. About a mile down the run it started to chug and I new it was going to stall; sounded like it was running out of gas. Pulled over quick and it stalled. Now, every time i start it, it runs for 5 seconds and stalls. I've had it idle for about 10 seconds but quits as soon as I touch the gas. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Mark

Check them rubber fuel lines to make sure they are ok, they may look fine from the outside but could be coming apart on the inside and blocking something. Also look at the inside of the tank and make sure nothin is floating and blocking the pickup tube.

Sounds like no fuel delivery, and that has several implications. With a helper disconnect the gas hose from the carb and place the end of it in a pop or water bottle, and spin it over a bit and see if you are getting good squirts into the bottle, should it fire don't get excited but continue to hold and watch. It wont run long but it should give you a chance to check the delivery.

Check that and we will give you next instructions.

If the fuel pump is an original type, it will have a cartridge type fuel filter inside a can that screws onto the pump.

It rarely gets changed, because most ppl don't know it's there.

Replaced all of the rubber fuel lines and it now it is purring like a kitten again. Thanks again to the forum as I would have never considered such an easy fix. Will update pictures when I get the new rims on it.

Thanks again to all!
