alternator wiring question

I have a 79 ford f-150 with a 351m and i did a total change over but im not sure where the wires from the altornator go. Does 1 wire just go to the postive side of the bat and that keeps the bat charged or is there more to it. I bought the hanes book for it but all it shows is a thick line going from the alt to the bat but no color and i think theres 3? wires commin out of it

thanks for all your help

alternator wiring question

The largest connector is the alternator output to the +bat connection on the solinoid. You also need to connect the field term on the alternator to the field term of the regulator. Do you have the stock regulator?
