Bad fuel pump? Cps question.

I just noticed a puddle of diesel under my fuel pump in the valley. I suspect that my fuel pump is shot. I have also been having trouble with the truck running kind of shaky or jerky when it is lukewarm. Would a failing fuel pump cause this? I have check the ICP and there is no oil in the plug. I also unplugged it and the truck still ran erratically. Also, I want to replace the CPS just to rule it out. Where is the best place to get one?

You can get a CPS from the dealer under a recall campaign or from ebay ect. Get 2 and keep one for a spare. They cost $15-30 last time I checked.

Have you checked the fuel pressure...or changed the filter lately?

be careful when changing your fuel pump not to drop the valve down in the motor that simple swap became a nightmare for me

I thought a CPS either worked or it didn't. No in-between or erratic running. Your engine is running fine, then - nothing...then it's running again. Then nothing. Then hopefully something.

I was thinking the same thing? mine is doing this too. I'm going to check the FPR screen and shim it too. I changed the filter and it still did it?

I cleaned my fpr screen and it didn't seem to help. I was thinking about shimming my fpr too to see if that helps.

have you checked your tps? irradic running while driving could be a tps issue. you need to certain about the source of the leak before you replace the pump, it could be a cracked fuel filter housing, or just a leaking banjo fitting, use some paper towels to dry the valley out best you can, and use a flash light and a work mirror to confirm the culprit of the leak, it could save you some headache and $$$

Check your fuel pressure as mentioned .. what is it? You can use a stick type tire gauge. Kind of messy but it will give you a good indication of fuel pressure.

Where would I get a guage and the correct fittings to hook it up? Does anyone have some good info on that?
