new to the fat fendered world

Just wanted to stop in and say hi...

I just purchased a 1955 f100. needs some work hence the reason for purchasing a project.

Any insight or input to a novice fat fendered truck owner would be greatly appreciated.

I am having one problem any help would be great...

its a 55 f100 v8 y-block...starts up runs strong until the truck heats up. shortly after that truck stalls out. Has already been converted to 12v system. I changed the ignition coil thinking that was the problem. did not take care of the problem. could be the distributor????

Thanks and i cant wait to get this thing on the road

Welcome to FTE. I'd say the coil was a good guess. Next, I'd check the point gap. It may be too close. Does it have a ballast resistor?

Hmmm, stalls out...like it's running out of fuel perhaps? What about a clogged fuel filter somewhere or trash in the tank.

First, welcome to the site. Your issue is most likely in the ignition, but if not you could be getting a vapor lock in the fuel line or carb. Good luck.

There's a great swap meet coming up in Stowe, Vermont, the second weekend in August...a three day event! Where are you in NH?

I live in Manchester....i would deff. be interested in the swap meet in VT. Just have to get the sat. off from the shop i work at..(almost like pulling teeth around here).

Fuel delivery isn't the problem i know that...new fuel new filter (inline pump and filter electric) i'm thinking distributor.

Thanks for the welcoming guys.

Welcome aboard, 55effie, Glad to have you. From your previous post, I get that you have an upgraded ignition system, (no condenser no points). Since your are sure it's not a fuel problem, the air and ignition is all that is left. Could it be your ignition module?
Keep us posted on your progress.

If you're ever come up to the "nawth" country you'll have to look me up. Let me know if you can make the Stowe show and I'll try to give you some decent directions...

Welcome To the board! Take your time and look around , use the search feature to learn as much as you can ...It's good reading too. Wish I had an answer to your stalling, but it would be just a guess.
