Folding tonneau cover

Not a diesel engine issue, but I will get better advice and exposure here than on the aftermarket site. I have to put a bed cover on my PSD, and need the ability to completely remove it from time to time. So I am choosing between a couple of folding covers, and wanted to see if anyone on here has any experience with them or any advice. Thanks for your help.

I am choosing between a Fold-A-Cover or an Advance cover, they look pretty close, the Fold-A-Cover install is little more involved. Best price I have found is from Truck Addons. I eliminated Bak Flap due to negative feedback.

Thanks again for any ideas.

I dislike the old advanced ice-cream truck lid. It seemed cheap and weak to me, I only did the one and that was 5+ years ago. I think they have since expanded their line or I might be thinking about another company, Torza.

My favorite of all of the models I had to chance to play with at the last show I attended was Extang's. It had the typical clamps in the front but the rear clamp (near the tailgate and the most used one) was spring loaded. Making it much more user friendly. They all install very nicely, but extang puts a lot of thought into their products.

Now Bak has some great ideas, I like the owner, but for some reason their excursions into tonneau covers come up short. They only real problem is the glue they used.

I believe Lund has one as well, and it wasn't too shabby. Myself, I would only have roll ups and Pace Edwards is my brand of choice.

I know its not a hard cover, but I love my extang full tilt tonneau. It's very quick and easy to completely remove, or roll up. Plus keeps everything nice and dry underneath. Don't have any experience with the others sorry.

I really like the look of my undercover tonneau , but if I used my truck for hauling more often I would have a folding tonneau , there's been more than a few times when its been a pita , Craig.

I would pick a Truxedo over the folding if your used to the undercover. Truxedo is a great compromise between a tilt and soft. Extang's full tilt is nice, but you can get the truxedo for just a few dollars more.

Folding covers look neat, but I don't like them. I had one, can't remember the name, but it used about 1 and a half feet of bed space. Also, if the cargo slid forward, you were crawlling under the cover to move the stuff out of the way to operate the cover. I now have an extang snap on cover. Wouldn't trade it for any fold up cover, or hard cover. If you are out somewhere and you need the bed, just remove the cover and throw the crossbars behind the seat. No running home to remove the cover, or leaving it somewhere only to have to get it later.

I got this cover BakFlip Folding Tonneau Cover from BAK Industries, and I get a ton of complements on it.

I chose this one because when open, I have full access to the bed and I can very easily remove it if needed (2 thumbscrews).

Check it out, you might like it.

I had the fold-a-cover on my last pickup. I liked it, it worked well and was easy to open / close and if I wanted to take it off, just 4 bolts (5 minutes) and it was off and light enough to carry it by myself without difficulty. No excessive leaking either.

Thanks for reminding me Bens99f350, I guess that it doesn't leak is important. I've gone through the car wash twice since I installed the cover...and no water in the bed.
