Oil analysis after towing 4,000 miles

Here is my most recent oil analysis after towing our 10,000 lb 31' fifth wheel camper almost 4,000 miles and total driving miles on the oil at 5,934 miles. We towed from Oklahoma-Gatlinburg TN and back, then from Oklahoma to West Whitlock State Park, SD.

I was very happy about the results - especially after adding in the new single shot injectors and having a heavy foot.......

I know, some care about Used Oil Analysis results (UOA) and some don't. For me I'm anal and like to know.......

The 6637 filter did as well as the Ford AIS I had on previously. Silicon at a low 5.

Rich,

I do care about UOA. I guess I'm anal too. Thanks for sharing. I just took out my AIS and put in a 6637. Nice to see that silicon level is low.

Dang Rich, that looks good. Especially consider there's 4000 miles of towing on that oil, and I know from what you told me that some of that towing was pretty tough with the headwinds you were facing.

orng1 is starting off with a positive reputation.
I've been kind of nervous after my last few tows. I wanted tol change the oil because I know that the stress of towing does cause havoc on engine. But like you when I check the oil it looks clean as the day I changed it. I've only got 2k miles on it but 1k has been towing.

The best bet is to call the 1-800# and ask for the closest sales rep in your area. If you look on their web site they only list the retail stores. A sales rep will save you 20%...runs about $16 a gallon.

If you are running 10K between oil changes you need to run a UOA in my opinion. The HEUI inj system is tough on oil and can shear the viscosity quicker than a common rail engine. IMO I'd be comfortable running 7K on a syn oil without an oil analysis, but only after establishing some UOA historical results on that specific oil.

In Pa, you def have Walmarts, right?
Just go with Shell Rotella 5W-40 Synthetic in the gallon jugs, that is what i have been running for some time and getting very good oil analysis from Blackstone labs in WI
you could always go to Napa and get Royal purple or try Amsoil, there are many dealers all over the US
good luck!

Mike...that's a lonnnng ways to go with no analysis! Not saying the oil isn't good enough to do it, but ya gotta check out what's happening with it bro! I'm doin 8,000 miles with Rotella syn with Blackstone telling me to run 9,000. The safe side is worth it to me!
