well i replaced my vacuum pump about a week ago then the other day driving my truck i start getting this squealing and griding noise followed by a loud clunk noise. i pulled over and found my vacuum pump in about 3 pieces, it appears one of the bearing failed and basically snapped the casting. got it exchanged for free and the new one is back in so far so good. must have been assembled on a Friday just before shift change.
i got it from o-rileys auto parts i don't recall the manufacturer. i think it was just a kind of freak thing i don't expect it to happen again, i replaced it again with the same part from the same manufacturer we will see how long this one lasts.
