EGT's towing 17k
I have a job 1 f350 3.73 35inch tires with 27k miles on it and an edge attitude. I was heading up tiger mtn a good climb loaded with about 25k lbs total with truck. the edge i set to stock at the start of the climb and my egts still went over 1350 deg. I had plenty of power but slowed down to cool things off! how hot is tooooo hot! for the 6.4. What egts are you guys seeing while towing large loads? any one with the dpf set up i would really appreciate your info!
27k miles 1yr old - one ps resvoir - 3rd radiator- almost all towing! nicest driving/towing truck as of yet!

How hot is to hot is a good question?
Are you reading your EGT's post or pre turbo?
Are you talkin substained temps for like 15 minutes plus or short spans of high temps.
I've ran mine to 1650 for a short span of 20 seconds or so but ive never ran over 1400 for any substained amount of time towing. Others have pushed these trucks to over 1800 degrees for short burst empty. At those high EGT's you have to be worried about the oil temp. Much over about 230 degrees and your gonna proably see things start to fale. Since oil jets actual cool the pistons from the bottom the oil helps kept the pistons cool. Once the oil becomes heat saturated the cool effect is lost and the faliures start.
I would say your safe at 1350 but your oil temps need to be watched and kept no higher than 220-230. If your running the factory tunning I believe the factory PCM is set to defuel at 1400 degrees. In addition the factory PCM will defuel if the oil temps go too high as well.
We have two 6.4's at our local dealer that have the edge systems on them. One truck melted the pistons down and one truck has a fried PCM which was caused by a short in the Edge module. Just be carefull at any rate.
