You can use the the filter without the heater but not without the stand pipe.

the stand pipe is broke at the top but the filter still slides over the standpipe

The top of the stand pipe has a spring loaded valve. When you screw down on the filter cap the filter pushes down on the top of the standpipe to open the valve. I believe the valve is there to keep crap from entering the stand pipe when the filter is removed and to keep it from being run without the filter. I am sure this will also help hold the filter in place.

it does hold the filter in place but the valve on top is open would that hurt any thing

we tryed to weld the hole we cut in the oil pan back but was just burnin holes in it so we jb welded it so hopefully that works out ill know tomorrow that simple fuel pump swap out turned out to be a living nightmare for me thanks for your help guys

For future reference ,, there is a replacement drain plug available ,,it has you drill a hole in the old pan threads ,,that makes a big enough hole to remove the tappet....
