ok guys thanks we tryed the oil dipstick way and that fell in to so we cut a hole in the oil pan and got both of them out, thank god and for you guys my saviors. we broke the tip of the plastic piece in the fuel cannister and the metal heater part will i still be able to use the cannister
You can use the the filter without the heater but not without the stand pipe.
The top of the stand pipe has a spring loaded valve. When you screw down on the filter cap the filter pushes down on the top of the standpipe to open the valve. I believe the valve is there to keep crap from entering the stand pipe when the filter is removed and to keep it from being run without the filter. I am sure this will also help hold the filter in place.
we tryed to weld the hole we cut in the oil pan back but was just burnin holes in it so we jb welded it so hopefully that works out ill know tomorrow that simple fuel pump swap out turned out to be a living nightmare for me thanks for your help guys

For future reference ,, there is a replacement drain plug available ,,it has you drill a hole in the old pan threads ,,that makes a big enough hole to remove the tappet....
