05 V10, cruise control stopped working?
Just got back from a 3200 mile trip with my F250, V10/6spd. Halfway through the trip the cruise control stopped working. Since this is a drive by wire system, and there is no cruise control servo like earlier trucks, I assume there are no fuses in the system. Any ideas where to start looking for a problem? My only thought is a switch on the clutch pedal might have failed, causing the ECM to think the pedal is always depressed, and not letting the cruise come on. Anyone have any other thoughts?

I have a 06 with the auto, and same thing happened to me over in Wyoming. It quit pulling a fairly long hill about a half mile from the top. I stopped to do some sightseeing a half hour later, when I started traveling again it worked until I stopped for lunch. After lunch it would not work again, I took it to the dealer in Rock Springs , and they were to busy to look at it until the day after I was leaving town. In the five days I was there it started working, and was normal all the way home. I called my dealer in Oregon, they said it could be the brake light switch, check the brake lights. So check the brake lights.

the cruise on my 05 e450 works on and off and i suspect it is the switch on the mc...u could try jumping it and see if it works but be sure your cancel button works or your sol...i also found out there is way to do a instrument cluster diagnostic to find out what the problem is but i am not sure if it works on newer models...i have not bothered with it because it is rarely ever used on the highway and if i change the switch i think a bleed would be in order which i dont want to do until the next brake job

Just looked at Ford Workshop Wiring Diagrams. There are two fuses that power the cruise control on your '05 gasser. In the smaller battery junction box, number 12 fuse is 2 amp (hot in key on only), check your owners manual for it's exact location. In the larger Central Junction Box there is another fuse, number 34 which is 10 amp (hot at all times).
And there is no fuse on the clutch pedal switch as the wiring goes directly into the PCM. Also check the connections on the pedals and the master cylinder. If all that is good, I'd 'guess' that the switches or associated wiring may be the trouble. That includes the sliding contacts under the steering wheel.

Thanks for the help! I did look at the 2amp fuse in the smaller underhood junction box, and it checked out, I will double check fuse 34 as well. If it checks out, I will look into the column wiring for the cruise control switches. Hopefully there is a plug I can simply unplug and poke into with an ohmmeter.
