Hi everybody, about 2 weeks ago I became the proud owner of a 2004 lightning with just over 40,000miles on it. I have been reading alot about and going thru other threads. I was wondering what are some important things I should check on it before to long? The big one i have seen is to check the intercooler pump, but i know theres gotta be more besides the normal wear stuff like brakes ect... Your assistance is appreciated. I want it to be dependable for along time. Thanx

the 2000&2001 had smaller interco0ler coils than later models adn some had a probled with leakinginto the intake system.schould not be a pr0blwm on your 2004.if you have to continue to add fluid to intercooler tank check the coil for leaks.

Yes, we all remember our first beer!!!! To each his or her own, we all buy what we want or can afford. No need to be a jack@$$!!!! We are here to help if we can!! And if you have your owners manual there usually is some good maintenance advice in it to follow.

The '99 and '00 model years had the intercooler problem. They came with a 9 row intercooler.
Starting with the '01 model year, Ford put in a better, 10 row intercooler that solved the leaking problem. Ford also replaced the leaking models during a "Customer Satisfaction" (as I've heard it described as) program that ended quite a few years ago. It was not a recall, so the program isn't active anymore.

What a douche! Why even post that? And aren't you in the wrong forum? I'd like to know what to look out for as well, and this tool is just baggin on people.
well im real curious to what he is driving that he thinks he could beat a lightning in. his gallery says what a 97 4.6. Im real impressed lol, but good for him, hope he has fun
Trolls or extreme wishful thinking. Just ran into someone posting that his stock 1996 Ranger with a 4.0 does 0-60 in 5 seconds. Must have driven it down a cliff.
